Description of course

We offer a comprehensive course designed to prepare your child for Otis-Lennon School Ability Test ® (OLSAT) and the Bracken School Readiness Assessment® (BSRA) tests which are required for placement in a Department of Education district or city wide Gifted and Talented Program.

This course will also prepare your child for the Early Childhood Admissions Assessment (ECAA) and the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI.) Both of these tests are components of the ERB and are required for entry into most private and/or independent schools in NYC.

In addition to a pre and post test, the course consists of ten 90 minute sessions. Your child will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of learning formats, such as interactive hands-on lessons, including working with a variety of manipulatives, test taking strategies as well as SMARTboard technology and presentations.

Our trained licensed teachers:

  • Will address multiple facets of your child’s intelligence and build a foundation on your child’s strengths.
  • Know how to monitor and evaluate program activities to support program development, alignment, and refinement.
  • Are aware of the differentiated learning styles children have and offer techniques that are shared and practiced with the children in a way that fosters their independence.
  • Are able to apply knowledge of best practices based on empirical research in gifted education.
  • Recognize factors related to underachievement in gifted and talented students and know how to effectively address causes of underachievement to enable your child to achieve their potential.

All classes will have a low student/teacher ratio; a maximum of 10 students to one teacher and one teacher’s assistant. We currently offer classes in Russian.
